JOIN My Beta Reader Team

Would you like to be one of them? This year I started work on my second novel and I am looking for a number of beta readers. The book should be available for a beta read in the latter part of this year. Expected to be September but I will keep you posted with progress and if I am on target every couple of months. I am looking for feedback on what you liked and what you didn’t like. Feedback on characters, how you felt about them? Setting? Pace? And anything else you would like to feedback on. You can provide as much or a little feedback as you like but, most importantly, I am looking for constructive views on where you think the story works and where not so much.

Book Review -Heroes by Robert Cormier

This is an excellent story with a dark theme running through it. The book starts with the protagonist, Francis Cassavant describing his injuries and how his face is disfigured from injuries after returning home from the war. He returns a hero, although he hides his identity as he has mission to enact a plan to the kill the man who only he knows of his evil.

The story moves back to before the war when Larry Lasalle arrives in Frenchtown and is loved by everyone. He has a style about him that everyone admires. There is however something that Larry tries to hide from them all, but in his weakness fails to control himself, and here his dark morality is eventually revealed. Larry then leaves the town to fight for his country and becomes a war hero as well as Francis.

Eventually Francis confronts Larry and his true nature is revealed. This is an extremely moving story, with a strong theme of deception and how someone’s image can hide a multitude of sins. This is a great book that raising a lot of questions.

In under 500 words love, romance, pain and a twist

A snap piece of flash fiction for you. Sometimes there is no reason but I thought it would be fun to write this piece to provide to you in a few words as possible a story of mixed emotions with a twist to complete.

A romantic novel should have a emotionally satisfying and optimistic ending. My attempt at romance: Are watching Mills and Boon!

New Sign on the M25

Last week I was driving down the M25 and I noticed a new sign they added. It seems everybody is heading to The Writers Forum.

Click to go to The Writers Forum

Alright, I know it’s convincing but in truth I found a clever little app that allowed me to create this sign. However, The Writers Forum is the place to be if you have an interest in creative writing whatever your level. The website is something I and few budding authors set up a couple of months back and it is going from strength to strength.

It’s a great place to submit short stories and get feedback from others. We are now running our third flash fiction Competition and this month will see our first short story competition.
